Welcome to Pod 2, Joy’s Corner, Cambridge.

This is the first modular housing (pods) scheme delivered by It Takes a City Community Land Trust (the CLT), with all four pods being occupied by the end of February 2025.

The CLT is part of the wider efforts to help the homeless and rough sleepers in the Greater Cambridge by giving those who would like to take the next step, a place to call home.

Seeing the pods in situ was a proud moment for all of our partners, businesses and community groups who have helped to make it possible, including Cambridge City Council who offered the use of its land at Joy’s Corner on a token lease, and the many council teams that provided additional support for the project, along with New Meaning Foundation who constructed the  homes off-site using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).

Each kitchen area comes with a fitted hob/oven, microwave, kettle and sink/drainer. There’s also a small dining table and chairs.

The lounge area contains a small sofa, coffee table, storage unit and TV.

You go through a door into the shower room, where there is also space for a washing machine and storage for a hoover.

At the rear of the home is the bedroom, containing a single bed, side table and wardrobe.

“We are proud to have led such an amazing team of partners to deliver this innovative project, making great use of a very small site.”

The CLT is also grateful to the following for their valuable contributions, often provided on a pro-bon basis Allia, Archangel Architects, Bidwells, Breheny Civil Engineering, Carter Jonas, CB3 Consulting Ltd, Ligna Consultancy, MKA Ecology, Munro Building Services, Stantec and Welch Group.

If you would like to support our work, donate to future schemes, or even have land that might be suitable for future schemes, then do please get in touch.
